We were massively chuffed that Grant and Susan found us via Susan’s friend and colleague, Emma (who happened to have one of my favourite weddings late last year) and decided that we were a good fit for their wedding day.
The morning mists cleared over Hampshire to reveal a stunning English spring day whilst Susan readied herself for the ceremony at the boutique Hotel du Vin in Winchester before being whisked off in a gorgeous british-racing-green vintage jaguar to the picturesque Old Alresford village church where an excited groom (et al) anticipated her arrival.
Après-ceremony, there was an opportunity for the first of many hugs and kisses of congratulations from friends and family before making their way to the reception back at Hotel du Vin. In the meantime, we had other plans for the happy couple, as Grant had mentioned hoping to get some shots in front of the old Alresford fire station. As it turns out, it was market day too, so Grant and Susan took a little breather amongst the bric-a-brac stalls and enjoyed the opportunity for some ‘quiet time’ before returning to the party.
The venue was beautifully decorated, reflecting the tasteful and eclectic aspects of the bride and groom. Adorned with homemade pom poms and wild colorful flowers, the guests were treated to über-cool jazz, canapés and of course lashings of Guinness (our groom is of the emerald Isle) prior to some heart-warming speeches, setting the tone for the remainder of the celebration – and we’re sure, the rest of their lives together.
We truly loved everything about this elegant, informal and creative day. Everything!
