It’s been another fabulous week, but today I just want to celebrate BANK HOLIDAYS!
We started as we mean to go on, with a brunch picnic in nearby woods, and I took the opportunity to take my new 50mm f1.2 lens out to play.

Jo & Jon: Micheldever woods pre-wedding shoot

undefined

Oh my, where do I start with these two amazingly gorgeous individuals. It nearly doesn’t seem fair that they are as lovely inside as they are on the outside. Seriously. They met whilst volunteering in an orphanage in India!

Jo and Jon booked us whilst they were still out in Australia (where Jon is from) so we’ve had a fair few emails pass between us to build the anticipation of meeting them. Cam in particular was super excited to be photographing a fellow Antipodean, and we were not disappointed. We started the morning off getting to know each other a little bit better over an informal picnic (although I have to admit I was a little too amped to eat anything… and I still see those lovely bakewell tarts Jo bought along that I didn’t have… sorry!) As Jon had proposed to Jo over a picnic, originally that had been a loose plan in our minds for the photoshoot – but the woods beckoned us, and we went for something a little more organic instead. Personally I loved it, and as you will see, the camera loves them too!

Cam and I also used this opportunity to start exploring some of the Beloved invitations, and I love the results. The idea behind Beloved is to create a space for the couples to share an experience as opposed to just asking them to “stand there and look pretty.” It’s something we are still learning ourselves, but we plan to incorporate it more and more into our forthcoming pre-wedding shoots, until all our shoots effectively become a Beloved experience. Some of my most favourite images came from this…

Jo is a painter, and has put a lot of her creative talents to work for her big day. You just know the entire day is going to be as stunning as these guys are; and the great thing is, we don’t have to wait too long for it – it’s next week!

Another week with a lot to be grateful for, starting with another fabulous online workshop. The advent of online teaching has been an amazing source of inspiration for me, particularly as it is not easy or currently affordable for me to attend these things in person. Obviously I appreciate there are limitations learning remotely, but it certainly beats not learning at all! This week, as I missed the live free sessions of Jasmine Star’s workshop on CreativeLive, I purchased the download. Totally worth every penny, I am only half way through, and already feel I have gained so much from it. In fact, in the last month, with the Beloved web seminars and now this, there has been a massive boost in the vision of our business, and I hope these will begin to translate through our images too. Oooh, so exciting!

On Thursday Kat hosted another infamous Rock n Roll Bride party which was of course awesome. My only regret is I didn’t get the chance to see or talk to half the people I was hoping to, but I did manage to catch up with some familiar faces, and one or two new ones too! The evening also allowed us to stop for a moment and actually acknowledge how far we have come in the last 8 months (since Kat’s last party we went to) and although we still have big dreams ahead, it was nice to take stock of what we have achieved – and celebrate that with others who have been on a similar journey. So thanks Kat!

Last but by no means least, we shot Jordan and Nathan’s wedding yesterday. My first Jenny Packham bride, and oh my god did she look stunning. I am so grateful that we have attracted some amazing couples this year, and this is only the beginning of an amazing year to come… In fact an email waiting for me when I got home just sealed the perfect end to a perfect week. It was from Claire, and in it she said, “You have a lovely way of capturing the moment so that is goes beyond and becomes about much more than the look of it…” Seriously Claire, those words mean so much to me, thank YOU.

On that happy note, here’s a little taster of what’s to come this week on the blog…
